Williamstown is an exciting blend of old and new. As Melbourne’s first seaport, it has a timeless maritime vibe with the old HMAS Castlemaine and historic tall ships contrasting with the modern vessels moored at the local sailing and yacht clubs.

The old town centre, Nelson Place has been lovingly maintained and is a popular place to grab an icecream or some fish and chips, while Douglas Parade and Ferguson Street are now the bustling urban heart of the area with a vibrant café and shopping scene.

The eastern coastline of Port Philip Bay is of great natural beauty. It is highly valued for its complex and protected ecosystem of marine plant and animal species. Second only to Kakadu, the area is particularly revered for it’s rich and diverse migratory bird colonies with many protected species able to be sighted along the wetlands and foreshores.

Hobsons Bay Coastal Trail

A 23km trail leads cyclists, joggers and walkers along a spectacular path skirting the edge of the bay. Journey through wetlands and parklands, pass by historical landmarks and sandy beaches, and weave through the Botanical Gardens. Set off on a longer journey by following connections to the Skeleton Creek Trail, the Laverton Creek Trail or the Kororoit Creek Trail.

Urban Living

Williamstown is a modern coastal community with a bustling urban heart of upmarket cafes, restaurants and boutique shops. Some of our picks include Sebastian, Crimson Bear, Crowded House, The Kiosk d’Asporto, Hobsons Bay Hotel, Carter Smith Devin & Co. Williamstown Beach
